Standard Chartered to rename Global Business Services to Global Capability Centres
The refreshed identity reflects the strategic role these hubs play in driving a simpler, faster and more connected Bank.
London – Standard Chartered (“the Bank”) today announced it will retire the Global Business Services (GBS) name and transition to Global Capability Centres (GCCs). The renamed global hubs will deliver specialised expertise, innovation and enterprise capabilities that support growth across the Bank. This transition in name recognises the evolution of these centres into strategic engines of transformation and value creation for the Bank.
Standard Chartered’s global hubs have supported the Bank’s growth delivering consistently across markets for more than two decades. As client needs, technology and operating models continue to evolve, formally recognising these hubs as GCCs better reflects the strategic role they already play in developing critical capabilities, driving innovation and enabling the delivery of the Bank’s strategy.
Building capabilities for the next phase of growth
Standard Chartered’s GCCs will play an increasingly important role in supporting clients and colleagues by connecting people, improving processes and using technology to create a simpler, faster and more connected Bank. Placed at the centre of the Bank’s operating model, these hubs will continue to accelerate innovation scale solutions and drive operational agility across its global footprint.
As technology reshapes banking, Standard Chartered continues to deepen its investments in data, digital platforms and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance client experiences and enhance productivity while maintaining the highest standards of operational resilience.
Alongside these technology investments, Standard Chartered remains committed to long-term employability. Through investment in skills development, learning, internal mobility and career growth, the Bank is equipping its employees with the skills required in a rapidly evolving workplace.
Tanuj Kapilashrami, Group Chief Operating Officer, Standard Chartered, said: “This is more than a name change. It reflects how our GBS hubs and colleagues have grown into a critical source of capability, innovation and expertise for the Bank. As GCCs, these hubs will play an even greater role in helping us reimagine work, strengthen enterprise capabilities and deliver better outcomes for our clients, colleagues and communities.”
The name change to GCCs will be implemented in phases across relevant markets, subject to local requirements and approvals.
