  5. Select the card to be activated and follow steps to activate.

An OTP is a One Time PIN which one receives on the mobile number registered with us at Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited. It is a temporary PIN that will be used prior to changing to your PIN of choice at a Standard Chartered Bank Kenya ATM.

You will receive your credit card within the next 4-7 days following a successful credit card application. Please keep the OTP in a safe place, you will need it to reset to the OTP to change your PIN number of choice. The OTP is valid for 72hrs. If you receive the credit card post this timeline please call the client centre on +254 20 329 3900/+254 703 093 900 and request for a new OTP.

PIN creation for a new card can be done through the following ways.

  1. Once your credit card application is approved and the card is created, a one-time password (OTP) is generated and sent to the phone number you provided in the credit card application. The OTP is valid for 72 hours from the day you receive it. You will need the OTP to create a PIN of your choice.
  2. Upon receiving your new credit card, you need to go to an SCB ATM in Kenya:
  3. Insert your credit card.
  4. You will be prompted to enter the OTP.
  5. From the menu options select the option for PIN change
  6. Enter the 4-digit combination you want as your PIN.

OR

  1. Login to the SC Mobile App
  2. Select “Service Requests”
  3. Go to “Card Management”
  4. Select the appropriate card.
  5. Select “Activate and Set PIN”
  6. Enter and re-enter you new PIN.

Yes, you can change your PIN through our SC Mobile App or at an SCB Kenya ATM (before activating your card although we recommend you call our call centre to activate your card first). This will give you an opportunity to get any clarification you may need on the PIN change process.

You can change your existing credit card PIN at an SCB ATM in Kenya.

  1. Visit an SCB ATM in Kenya and insert your credit card.
  2. You will be prompted to enter your existing PIN to access the menu.
  3. From the menu options select PIN change
  4. Enter your PIN.

OR

  1. Login to the SC Mobile App
  2. Select “Service Requests”
  3. Go to “Card Management”
  4. Select “Change Credit Card PIN”
  5. Select the appropriate card.
  6. Set Credit Card PIN
  7. Input OTP and proceed to change PIN.
  1. Call the SCB call centre at +254 20 329 3900/+254 703 093 900 When you get to an agent, request to change your credit card PIN. Please note you will be taken through various questions to confirm your identity. This is for your protection.
  2. SCB will immediately send you an OTP on the mobile number we hold in our records, it is valid for 72 hours.
  3. You should go to an SCB ATM in Kenya and insert your credit card.
  4. You will be prompted to enter the OTP.
  5. From the menu options you should select the option for PIN change
  6. Enter the 4-digit combination you want as your PIN

 

OR

  1. Login to the SC Mobile App
  2. Select “Service Requests”
  3. Go to “Card Management”
  4. Select “Change Credit Card PIN”
  5. Select the appropriate card.
  6. Set Credit Card PIN
  7. Input OTP and continue to change PIN.

The OTP is valid for 72 hours (If shared by SCB call centre) and 29 seconds if generated through our SC Mobile App.

OTPs expire after 72 hours. Please call contact centre +254 20 329 3900/+254 703 093 900 to request for a new OTP. The OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number.

OTPs generated through the SC Mobile App can be reset immediately they expire.

There is no limit to the number of times you can change your credit card PIN.

Yes, you can set your own PIN on replaced cards. Replaced credit cards will follow the same process as that of a new credit card. Refer to point 3 above.

For renewed credit cards the PIN on the expired card will continue to work on the renewed card. Should you wish to change this PIN, visit the nearest SCB Kenya ATM. Use the PIN on your expired card to change to a PIN of your choice or change through our SC Mobile App. Refer to ‘How do I change the PIN on my existing credit card?”

The OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number.

No, the One Time PIN is a temporary PIN. The one-time PIN is meant to facilitate a secure way for you to set up a PIN of your choice and then use this for POS and ATM transactions going forward.

As soon as you have changed your PIN at the ATM to a PIN of your choice, you can use your credit card at a point of sale to purchase goods.

  1. Login to the SC Mobile App
  2. Go to “Payments” and select either “Pay to Saved Biller” or “One Time Bill Payment”.
  3. If doing One Time Bill Payment, select “Mobile Money” > “Mpesa or Airtel Money” and enter the mobile phone number.
  4. Select Credit Card as source of funds.
  5. Input amount and description.
  6. Continue
  7. Confirm details and continue.
  8. Input OTP and confirm.
  1. Access M-PESA on the Safaricom Sim Tool Kit on your mobile phone
  2. Select “Lipa Na M-PESA” on the M-PESA menu.
  3. Select “Pay Bill” enter Business no “329 110” then press OK.
  4. “Enter Account no.” which is your Credit Card number and press OK.
  5. Key in the amount you wish to pay then press OK.
  6. Enter your M-PESA PIN and press OK.

  2. Select “Payments”
  3. Go to “Pay SC Credit Cards”
  4. Select Credit Card & account to recover the funds.
  5. Choose “Minimum or Total amount due” as per statement displayed.
  6. Confirm details and continue.
  7. Input OTP and confirm.
  1. Login to the SC Mobile App
  2. Go to “Service Request”
  3. Select “Report Lost/Stolen Credit Card”
  4. Select reason.
  5. Select the appropriate card.
  6. Read the terms and conditions.
  7. Upon confirmation, the card will be blocked immediately.

  4. Continue
  5. Confirm details and continue.
