Card Settings is an enhancement to your SC Mobile app and online banking that gives you more control over how, when, and where your cards may be used. You can log in to your SC Mobile app or online banking to change your settings at any time, and they will be applied instantly.
You will have more control over how, when, and where your credit card may be used. Through instant notifications, you’ll be alerted to any potential fraud or misuse of your card, and be able to act immediately, reducing loss and saving time. If you’ve temporarily misplaced your card, for instance, you can use Card Settings to instantly lock it temporarily, and then instantly unlock it when you find it again.
Card Settings works by leveraging capabilities offered by both Visa and MasterCard; it uses the Visa Card Transaction Controls service as well as the MasterCard Spend Controls and Alerts services.
The settings are applied instantly. If you change a setting on your SC Mobile app or online banking, you will be able to test the setting straight away the next time you use your card to make a transaction.
No, Card Settings do not apply to the following types of transactions made on your card:

Principal and supplementary cards will both be displayed in the cards list and be available to select only if the card numbers are different. Where the principal and supplementary cards have the same card number, only the principal card will be available to select in the cards list, and any settings on the principal card will also be applied to the associated supplementary cards.
No, only the principal card holder may set controls on any supplementary cards.
When you make any changes to your card’s settings, you will receive an instant notification advising you that the setting is now in effect. You will also see an on-screen confirmation.
Only you as the principal card holder can change the settings for your cards. To change any settings, you need to be logged in to SC Mobile and undergo 2-Factor Authentication in the form of a One Time Password.
When you call our banking hotline, our call center staff may also see and change your settings if they have your permission and have sufficiently verified your identity via the standard methods.
The only information that Standard Chartered Bank shares with Visa or MasterCard in order to facilitate Card Settings is your card number and your settings preferences.
Visa and MasterCard will not send you notifications relating to Card Settings, but Standard Chartered Bank will send you notifications for transactions that trigger your settings.
No, your card’s credit limit is assigned by the bank. You may use Card Settings to set limits on individual transactions up to the value of your assigned credit limit.
Currently, Card Settings is available for Visa and MasterCard credit cards only.

Card Settings is an opt-in service. You can access it to change or reset your settings at any time. If you don’t use Card Settings, your card still work and remain subject to any usage restrictions imposed by the card association or by Standard Chartered Bank.

Yes! In fact, if you have a supplementary card with a different card number compared to the primary card, then you can use Card Settings to set different transaction controls on that card, and be alerted to certain transactions made only on that card.
Simply navigate to Card Settings in your SC Mobile app or online banking and tap the ‘Temporarily lock this card’ toggle. When you lock your card temporarily, you will be prompted to provide confirmation.
When your card has been locked temporarily, transactions made using that card will be declined except for the following types of transactions:

If you have requested that your card be permanently blocked, then it cannot be unblocked and you should wait until your replacement card is delivered to you.
You could first navigate to Card Settings in your SC Mobile app or online banking to temporarily lock your card. This lock will be applied instantly and provide you with peace of mind while you search for your card. If you are sure your card has been lost or stolen, you should immediately navigate to Help & Services in your SC Mobile app or online banking and Report Lost/Stolen Card, or otherwise you may phone our banking hotline to request your card be blocked. A replacement card will then be issued to your registered address.
No, you will not lose your settings. When you install the SC Mobile app on a new device, your cards and card settings will appear on the new device as on the previous device.
Yes, your Card Settings will be available on all devices on which you have SC Mobile app. Your settings will be synchronised across devices, and so changes made on one device should reflected on the other.
No, your Card Settings will currently not be automatically transferred to your replacement card.
When your card is replaced, the new card will have a different number. Your existing card settings will not be carried over to your replacement card and you will have to manually re-set them. We’ll remind you when your replacement card is issued.
You will have to navigate to Card Settings for the new card in your SC Mobile app or online banking and set your preferences for the new card.
Standard Chartered may issue an SMS notification when your card is used to make transactions. When you opt for a control on your card in Card Settings, you are also enrolling for additional notifications for certain transactions which breach that control. You may reduce your notifications by disabling active controls at any time.
A transaction limit is a limit imposed on the transaction amount of a single one-off transaction. The amount will be based on the currency of the country where your card was issued. When you set a transaction limit in Card Settings and then make a transaction using your credit card, if the amount exceeds the limit that you specified, it will be declined and then you will receive a notification.
To set a transaction limit, navigate to Card Settings in your SC Mobile app and online banking and tap on Transaction Limit. Enter a limit amount. The limit amount is based on the currency of the country where the card was issued. You must enter a transaction amount that is above the minimum amount, that is displayed by default, and the credit limit for your card, as assigned by Standard Chartered Bank. When you tap the Save button to return, your transaction limit setting will be saved and come into immediate effect.
Your card’s credit limit refers to the maximum amount of credit that Standard Chartered Bank assigns to your card. A transaction limit is the limit or amount that you have set under Card Settings.
Yes, there is a minimum transaction limit of USD$25 (or equivalent). This is to prevent misuse of the service and to ensure you do not receive too many notifications.

Yes, when you opt for overseas transactions to be declined, you will still be able to make online transactions anywhere. The overseas card use decline setting only applies to card-present transactions.
Sometimes the systems that support Card Settings may be unavailable, or there may be a network issue that prevents your settings from being saved. If you see this warning, please try again to save your settings.
If you have previously set a control that results in certain transactions being declined, and you are now unable to disable that control due to such system availability or network issue, then the previously set control will be in place until such time when you are able to successfully disable that control.
If you have not set a control that results in certain transactions being declined, or requested only notifications for such transactions, then your card will still continue to work.
We try to ensure maximum availability of the Card Settings service, and we are reliant on the availability of the Visa Card Transaction Controls service and the MasterCard Spend Controls and Alerts services. In the rare circumstance that any of these services are unavailable, a warning will be displayed in your SC Mobile app and online banking when you attempt to make changes to your card settings. Your SC Mobile app and online banking should always display the current status of your card settings. If at any time Card Settings is not working as expected, you may contact us on 600 5222 88. If you want to remove or cancel your settings, you can at any time by logging in to your SC Mobile app or online banking and navigating to Card Settings.
