My neurodivergent journey at Standard Chartered

I spent over two decades as a teacher before transitioning into banking. Today, I work in our Cloud Technology team and also volunteer in D&I activities relating to neurodiversity inclusion. My own journey has shown me that when an organisation creates the right environment, people can bring their whole selves to work and truly thrive.

For me, simple accommodations – such as meeting transcripts, flexible seating, or the ability to work in hybrid environments – make a huge difference. They allow me to process information in ways that work best for me. But more importantly, they help unlock the strengths that I can bring, including creativity, pattern recognition, curiosity, and the ability to think differently.

That difference matters. Diverse ways of thinking help teams avoid blind spots, solve problems in new ways, and drive innovation. I’m proud that our Bank’s commitment to neurodiversity is part of a broader commitment to inclusion, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to contribute and succeed.
