Appointment:

Birju was appointed to the Board in April 2026.

Experience:

Birju has over 26 years of banking experience, having started as a graduate trainee in Standard Chartered Bank Kenya. His career has seen him work in corporate banking, investment banking and transaction banking, across Kenya, the United Kingdom, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. Birju is currently the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited and is a Director of its various subsidiary Boards.

Appointment:

Edith was appointed to the Board in August 2020.

Experience:

Edith has over 22 years of retail banking experience, having started her career at Absa Bank Kenya Plc before joining Standard Chartered Bank Kenya in 2015. Edith has been instrumental in leading the transformation of the Wealth and Retail business of the Bank where she serves as an Executive Director.

Appointment:

Gladys was appointed to the Board in May 2026.

Experience:

Gladys has over 20 years of experience, having held leadership roles in Treasury, Finance, Controllership and Governance. Gladys is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Standard Chartered Bank Kenya Limited and is a Director of its various subsidiary Boards.

Appointment:

Judy was appointed as Company Secretary in October 2020.

Experience:

Judy has over 26 years legal and corporate governance experience in the banking industry having worked at both Standard Chartered Bank and other banks in Kenya. She has gained extensive knowledge and experience leading teams of company secretaries across various markets in Africa, Middle East, ASEAN and South Asia.

Appointment:

Morrine was appointed to the Board in March 2026.

Experience:

Morrine has over 12 years’ experience across banking and insurance, with deep expertise in bancassurance strategy, regulatory governance and business growth. Morrine has held senior leadership roles within Standard Chartered and the wider financial services sector, where she has led bancassurance transformation initiatives, strengthened insurer partnerships and embedded customer‑centric insurance solutions across key client segments. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and professional qualifications in Insurance and Investment Management.
