Highlights How Does it Work FAQ

What is 3D Secure™?

3D Secure™ is an online security feature that is powered by Visa and Mastercard for credit card transactions that are carried out online. This feature protects you from unauthorised online transactions as you will be required to provide a one-time password (OTP) that is sent to your registered mobile number when you make any online transactions on websites that have incorporated the "Verified by Visa" or "MasterCard SecureCode" sign.

How does 3D Secure™ protect me against unauthorised transactions?

3D Secure™ protects you against unauthorized online transactions as you will be required to enter a one-time password that will be sent to your mobile number and email address before you can complete the online transaction. This additional authorization step ensures that only you as the cardholder will have the password required to complete the transaction.

How much does the 3D Secure™ feature cost?

The 3D Secure™ feature is a free security feature on all Standard Chartered credit cards.

Do I need to apply for a new Standard Chartered Bank credit card to enable the 3D Secure™ feature?

No, the 3D Secure™ feature is applicable across Standard Chartered credit cards.

How can I update my mobile number and email address?

You can update your mobile number and email address through:

  1. Phone banking at (+971) 600 5222 88
  2. Update your phone number through any Standard Chartered Bank ATM
  3. Log in to online banking and update your Email ID

Is the 3D secure authentication process applicable for all online transactions?

No, this additional authentication process is applicable only to websites that have enabled the security feature. You will be able to identify if the website is enabled for 3D Secure™ if the "Verified by Visa" or "MasterCard SecureCode" sign is displayed on the website.

What if the website does not have the 'Verified by Visa' or 'MasterCard SecureCode' sign?

For websites that have not enabled the 3D Secure™ feature, you will not be required to go through the one-time password authentication process for your online transactions.
