Empowering the next generation

Futuremakers by Standard Chartered is our global initiative to tackle inequality and promote greater economic inclusion in our markets. We are inviting disadvantaged young people, especially girls and people with visual impairments, across our markets to take part in community programmes to learn new skills and improve their chances of getting a job or starting their own business.

Our ambition is to raise USD50 million between 2019 and 2023 to empower the next generation to learn, earn and grow. In 2019, we contributed $9.4 million through fundraising and Group donations to Futuremakers.

Standard Chartered Mauritius is committed to engaging with and giving back to the Mauritian community. Through an innovative partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Bank has implemented Goal, an empowerment programme for the economic inclusion of adolescent girls that has been rolled out in 31 secondary schools with a reach out to more than 6,000 girls aged 12 to 15 years old since 2017.
