Scope of cover

Compensation for loss or damage to the property insured by perils indicated below
  • Fire, lightning, thunderbolt, earthquake, volcanic eruption or subterranean fire, storm, tempest or flood
  • Explosion of domestic appliances
  • Riot, strike and malicious damage
  • Aircraft and other aerial devices or articles dropped therefrom
  • Bursting or overflowing of water tanks apparatus or pipes
  • Cover for domestic employees
  • Personal liability either as an owner or an occupier of the premises
  • Loss or damage by theft to items covered under section 2 and 3
  • Accidental damage to the items insured under section 3

Sections Covered

Section 1: Buildings
  • Residential building or apartment and perimeter walls gate houses
  • Rental Income
Section 2: Contents
  • Insured to declare list of items covered and the nature of contents especially those whose sum insured is more than 5% of the total sum insured under contents
Section 3: All Risks
  • All items must be declared and listed. Insured to provide the model numbers of mobile phones
  • Jewellery valuation certificate is submitted at inception of cover for items above UGX 2,000,000
Section 4: Owners’/Occupiers’ liability and employers liability
  • Tenant’s liability per event and aggregate – UGX 100,000,000
  • Occupiers’/Owners’ liability per event and aggregate – UGX 200,000,000
  • Cover for legal liability for injuries to employees
Section 5: Workmen Injury Benefit Act
  • Death and permanent disability to domestic helper – 5-year earnings
  • Temporary total disability to domestic helper – actual weekly earnings, max 52 weeks
  • Medical expenses – UGX 3,000,000
  • Funeral expenses – UGX 1,000,000
  • Personal effects – UGX 500,000
  • Occupational illness as per WC Act 2000
Section 6: Personal Accident
  • Accidental Death/Permanent disability of insured or member of the insured’s immediate family – up to UGX 8,000,000
  • Medical benefit following an accident up to UGX 2,000,000
Section 7: Golfers
  • Cover for golf equipment
  • Cover for hole in one – up to UGX 30,000,000
  • Third party liability - up to UGX 50,000,000
  • Personal accident


  • Cost of alternative accommodation – UGX 1,000,000
  • Cover for damage of contents in the freezer as a result of the risks mentioned in Section 2 – limit UGX 500,000
  • Cover for fire fighting – reasonable costs
  • Cost of removing falling trees
  • Rent receivable – 10% of sum insured
  • Debris removal – 10% of sum insured
Political Violence and Terrorism

Building and Contents cover extended to included loss or damage arising from terrorism and political violence

Free additional benefit
  • Mechanical or electrical breakdown
  • Wear and tear, depreciation, atmospheric conditions
  • Unexplained losses
  • Excess on buildings – 10% of claim amount minimum UGX 100,000
  • Excess on contents/All Risks 10% minimum UGX 200,000
  • Mobile phone excess – 10% minimum UGX 200,000
  • Earthquake excess – 2.5% of sum insured
