Shivaraman (Shiva) Subramanian

Regional Head of Correspondent Banking, South Asia

Shivaraman Subramanian (Shiva) heads the Correspondent Banking business for South Asia comprising India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bhutan. His responsibilities are for origination and managing of cash and trade revenue from bank clients.

Shiva has been with Standard Chartered Bank for close to five years. He joined the bank to handle the transaction banking team for banks for India and his role was expanded to include South Asia.

Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank Shiva was with Bank of America in Mumbai handling the transaction banking business for the banks segment for South Asia and the non-banking finance company segment for India. He started his career with Indian Overseas Bank (three months) before joining HSBC in Chennai, India. He worked in HSBC till 1996 in various departments like Finance & Administration, retail and non-resident banking and remittances. In 1997 he moved to American Express Chennai to head their remittance operations before moving to correspondent banking in the same organization. He also had a stint in American Express Tokyo in the product management role before moving to Bank of America.

Shiva is a Cost Accountant and a Company Secretary. He is also a member of the Institute of Information.
