STEP 1: Validate if you are eligible

Be sure to check on the eligibility requirements when it comes to opening an account.

For selected savings accounts, you can open the account only when you hit 16 years old and above. Foreigners are eligible as well. Check the respective product pages for details.

 

STEP 2: Submit your documents

 

Different account applications would require different supporting documents to be submitted.

Ensure that you have the correct documents for submission based on your citizenship status (Singapore Citizens, Permanent Residents and Foreigners).

If you are a Singaporean or Permanent Resident, you just need your SingPass and you can apply via MyInfo. No additional documents are required.

You can open a fixed deposit account instantly through Online Banking:

 

Step 1: Login to Online Banking

Step 2: Click “Apply” on the top navigation bar

Step 3: Select: “Time Deposit Account”

Step 4: Fill up the application form and remember to select the tenure of your choice

 

Once your Time Deposit request is submitted successfully, your new placement will be reflected under the Account Summary.

Yes. Generally, all Singapore dollars deposit in savings, fixed deposit and current accounts are covered under the Deposit Insurance Scheme.

With effect from 1 April 2024, Singapore dollars deposits hed by non-bank depositors in eligible savings, fixed deposit and current accounts will be insured up to S$100,000 per depositor in accordance with Deposit Insurance and Policy Owners’ Protection Schemes Act (CAP77B).

Singapore dollar deposits of non-bank depositors are insured by the Singapore Deposit Insurance Corporation, for up to S$100,000 in aggregate per depositor per Scheme member by law. Foreign currency deposits, dual currency investments, structured deposits and other investment products are not insured.
