Frequently asked questions
What is a Credit Card Funds Transfer?
It lets you cash out your available credit limit at 0% interest for a chosen tenure. New clients without an SC card receive a Simply Cash Credit Card, which also earns 1.5% cashback on spend.
What's the minimum and maximum amount I can transfer?
The minimum amount is S$1,000. The maximum is 90% of your total assigned credit limit.
Which banks can I transfer balances from?
Any local bank account registered solely under your own name.
Are foreigners eligible to apply?
Yes, subject to the Bank's approval and the foreigner eligibility criteria above.
Can I use this to pay off existing Standard Chartered debt?
No. A Credit Card Funds Transfer may not be used to pay off existing Standard Chartered loans or outstanding Credit Card payments.
What tenures are available?
4 tenures at 0% interest p.a. — 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months.
How much could I actually save?
Use the calculator above — enter your outstanding balance and tenure to see your estimated savings versus your other bank's interest charges.
Is there an annual fee?
No annual fee. You pay a one-time, non-refundable processing fee based on your approved amount and tenure.
Is there a fee for paying off my balance early?
No — there is no early redemption fee.
What is EIR (Effective Interest Rate)?
EIR is the true cost of borrowing. It accounts for the one-time processing fee, your monthly minimum repayments of 1% of principal, and full repayment of the balance in the final month of your tenure — which is why it's higher than the headline 0% interest figure.
What's my minimum monthly repayment?
1% of your total remaining principal, or S$50 — whichever is greater — plus any interest, fees and charges due. The remaining loan amount is payable at the end of your tenure.
What happens if I'm late on a payment?
A flat S$100 late payment charge applies on the due date. If your minimum repayment still isn't received in full by your next Statement Date, late interest at the EIR of 29.9% p.a. (0.081% per day) applies on all your Credit Card Funds Transfer accounts from that Statement Date. Miss one payment and your promotional rate is reinstated once you pay in full; miss two or more consecutive months and your promotional rate may be withdrawn, with the 29.9% p.a. rate remaining even after you catch up.
Could I lose my 0% rate?
Yes — if you haven't repaid your full Credit Card Funds Transfer amount (including fees, charges and interest) by the end of your tenure, or you're late on any Standard Chartered Credit Card, Personal Loan or Funds Transfer payment, the prevailing rate of 29.9% p.a. applies instead.
Can I change my tenure after approval?
No — you cannot change your repayment tenure once your transfer is approved.
How do I make repayments?
Via Online Banking, the SC Mobile app, AXS, ATMs, branches, or GIRO.
Do I earn rewards or cashback on this facility?
No — Credit Card Funds Transfer balances do not earn rewards or cashback.
Does this affect my available credit limit?
Yes — it draws down your available credit limit. As you repay, your available limit is restored.
Why might my approved amount be lower than I expect?
It depends on the Bank's lending criteria for new applicants, or the 90%-of-credit-limit cap for existing cardholders. For example, a S$10,000 credit limit caps your transfer at S$9,000.
How fast will I get my funds?
Instantly upon approval to an existing Standard Chartered account, for any approved amount. Disbursing to another local bank account takes 15 minutes^ instead. If your approved amount exceeds S$200,000, funds arrive the next working day if you're approved before 2pm, or 2 working days after approval if approved after 2pm. If your receiving bank isn't on FAST, funds are disbursed the next working day instead.
My bank isn't listed as an option — what now?
Open a Standard Chartered account instead, and transfer your balance there.
