COVID-19: how SMEs are coping with the crisis

While the pandemic has been tough, many entrepreneurs are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel

With the large share of jobs they create, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the lifeblood of the global economy. We have been speaking to our SME clients regularly to understand their situation and how we can best offer them support at the time when they need it the most. As our conversations evolved, we were heartened to find out that 85 per cent are now confident in the future of their businesses.

In May and then again in September 2020, we asked 12,000 of our SME clients in Bangladesh, India, Malaysia and Singapore about the challenges faced in running their businesses:
