Mahendra Gursahani is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad (SCBMB) and was appointed to the Board on 17 February 2015. As Managing Director and CEO, Mahendra is responsible for the implementation of Standard Chartered’s business strategies and overall Corporate Governance for SCBMB and also for the Group’s operations in Malaysia.

Prior to this appointment, Mahendra was the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Retail Clients, Standard Chartered Bank Philippines.

Mahendra’s career with Standard Chartered Bank began over 20 years ago and has varied across its businesses in the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe and Americas. Mahendra’s experience spans Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Credit Risk Management, Asset Management, Audit, Risk and a variety of roles in Finance.

Prior to Standard Chartered Bank, he served with the American Express Bank in Mumbai, India. Mahendra started his career with Arthur Andersen in London.

An Australian national, Mahendra is a Chartered Accountant, having qualified in London with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Datuk Seri Michael K C Yam, had an illustrious career spanning 35 years in the construction, real estate and corporate sectors with the last 12 years until 2008, helming 2 different award winning public listed property companies. Michael Yam was awarded the prestigious “CEO of the Year 2002” Award by Business Times and American Express Corporate Services.

In 2009, he established a corporate advisory, project management and private equity firm known as Impetus Alliance Advisors providing consultancy services particularly to the property industry. He is currently appointed as an independent non-executive director on the Boards of Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad and Standard Chartered Saadiq Berhad. He is a senior independent director of both Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad and Paramount Corporation Berhad and is also an independent director of Sunway Berhad and Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad.

Apart from these appointments, he is the Chairman of Government incorporated trade promotion agency Invest KL Corporation, and a director of the Construction Industry Development Board, a statutory body under The Ministry of Works. He is the Immediate Past President and Patron of the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia and is professionally qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and also a Fellow of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

DATUK AHMAD A. TALIB
CHAIRMAN, YAYASAN SALAM MALAYSIA


Datuk Ahmad bin Abd Talib is a busy retiree. At 65 years old, he maintains a full diary, being a columnist to two newspapers that are part of the Media Prima Group. For the New Straits Times, his English articles titled ‘Pahit Manis’ are published every Sunday, and in Harian Metro, his Malay articles are published on Tuesdays.

While at Media Prima, he was executive director of Editorial and News. He was responsible for four television channels and three daily newspapers. In all, Datuk Ahmad has more than 40 years of journalistic experience in print and electronic. He retired a year after the 2014 general elections.

He is chairman of Yayasan Salam Malaysia, a non-profit organisation doing social work and humanitarian initiatives. He is also an advisor to the National Tourism Council of Malaysia (NTCM). He was made Adjunct Professor of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in Sintok, Kedah in 2015.

DATUK TENGKU SARIFFUDDIN TENGKU AHMAD

Datuk Tengku Sariffuddin started his career as a Journalist at the News Straits Times, Johor Bahru in 1987. He was transferred to NSTP headquarters Kuala Lumpur in 1991 where he was assigned to the general desk covering political and social events.

In 1997, he was offered the position of Press Secretary to the then Education Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and thereafter he continued his services when Datuk Seri held the position as Deputy Prime Minister. Datuk Tengku Sariffuddin is currently the Press Secretary to the Prime Minister of Malaysia and Director of MediaDivision.

JENNIFER KANG
COUNTRY HEAD OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS
STANDARD CHARTERED BANK MALAYSIA BERHAD


Jennifer was appointed Country Head, Corporate Affairs for Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia on 17 October 2016. In her current role, she is responsible for leading the Corporate Affairs team to support the Business through communications, sustainability, community engagement and public affairs activities.

Jennifer joined Standard Chartered Bank in December 2007. Prior to moving to Malaysia, she was Regional Head of Sustainability and Community Engagement for the Africa and Middle East region based in the United Arab Emirates. She started her career with the Bank as Head of Corporate Affairs and Brand and Marketing for Brunei.

Jennifer has a positive 19-year record in heading corporate communications, marketing and branding, sustainability and community engagement activities within the banking and hotel industries. She holds a Bachelor of Social Science (Information Management) degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia.

In her spare time, she enjoys going on food adventures, scrabble, baking and reading.

LIZ KAMARUDDIN

Liz specialises in a variety of sectors including energy, finance, banking, aviation, telecommunications and hospitality. She has more than 20 years of experience in various communications practices particularly reputation management, communications strategy, strategic planning, corporate and government stakeholder management, crisis communications, corporate social responsibility, branding, media relations and internal communications.

Before joining FTI Consulting, Liz was the Global Head of Strategic Communications for PETRONAS. In this role, she was responsible for the company’s overall communications strategy, corporate branding and reputation management in more than 30 countries. Prior to this, Liz was the Country Head of Corporate Affairs at Standard Chartered Bank in Malaysia.

Liz is the only Malaysian to be recognised in the world’s three most prestigious PR and marketing awards. She was named one of the ‘Top 500 Most Influential PR Professionals’ in the PRWeek Power Book for 2014 and 2015 by the global PRWeek magazine and was included in the ‘Power List 2014 – Top 50 Most Influential People in PR’ by PRWeek Asia. The Internationalist, New York, also recognised her as ‘The Internationalist of the Year 2014’.

Liz is known as a ‘turnaround communications expert, constructing ‘out-of-the box’ solutions and achieving effective strategies/action plans that proactively address business and communications challenges.

Liz is currently serving on the Industrial Advisory Panel for Strategic Communications at Multimedia University Malaysia. Since 2010 she has been the Board of Trustee for the Standard Chartered Foundation. She has also served as the Chairman for the Prime Minister’s Hibiscus Award and was the President for the Business Council for Sustainability Responsibility Malaysia from 2011-2013.
