Payment Connect is a cross-boundary payment service that links Hong Kong’s Faster Payment System (FPS) with Mainland China’s Internet Banking Payment System (IBPS). It enables eligible customers to make near real-time cross-boundary remittances between Hong Kong and Mainland China through participating banks and payment institutions.
Payment Connect may be used for eligible personal and daily living-related payments.
The service is available to eligible customers who maintain accounts with participating institutions in Hong Kong and Mainland China, subject to applicable regulatory requirements and the relevant bank’s eligibility criteria.

You may make payments and transfers to accounts held with the above banks using the payee’s account number or mobile number, and you may also receive payments from them. For further details, please contact the relevant bank directly.
You may make a transfer through SC Mobile App by:
- Select “Payment Connect”
- Enter the Payee’s bank account details
- Entering the transfer amount
- Reviewing the transaction details and confirming the instruction
Yes. Hong Kong residents may transfer funds to personal payees with designated payee banks in Mainland China, subject to:
- the daily small-value payment limit of HKD10,000
- the annual transfer limit of HKD200,000
For Northbound transactions, the minimum amount for a single transaction is HKD 50 or RMB 1.
No. Payment Connect only supports Renminbi payments made from an RMB account or an HKD account.
No. Once a transfer instruction has taken effect, it cannot be stopped or withdrawn. Before submitting an instant transfer, please review the payment details carefully, including the payee’s name and account number.
If the payment is rejected, the funds will be converted back into the debit currency at the prevailing exchange rate and refunded to your account. Not necessarily. As foreign exchange rates may fluctuate, the refunded amount may differ from the original debit amount.
No. At present, Payment Connect only supports payments to personal payees in Mainland China.
Payments are generally processed on a near real-time basis, subject to the operating arrangements of the receiving banks and the relevant clearing institutions.
If you are sending money to Mainland China through Payment Connect, the handling fee will be fully waived.
