Unit Trusts
A Unit Trust (or fund) is made up of money pooled from multiple investors and invested in a variety of assets to meet an investment objective. Investors own units representing a part of the portfolio. The professionally managed fund can invest in stocks, bonds and/or other instruments. In Singapore, a Unit Trust is also referred to as a collective investment scheme (CIS).
A Unit Trust and a Mutual Fund differ in structure. Investors in a Unit Trust become a beneficiary of the trust. A mutual fund issues redeemable shares while a Unit Trust issues units.
A Unit Trust offers diversification and professional management. Whether it is suitable for you depends on your risk tolerance and financial goals. Consider the fees and the fund's performance track record, and seek professional advice before investing.
Minimum initial investment amounts vary — most funds require at least S$1,000, with subsequent amounts from as low as S$100. Investments can be made via cash, CPF, or SRS. A Regular Savings Plan (RSP) is also available.
Yes, there are investment risks, including the possibility of losing part or all of your invested amount. Please seek professional advice before investing.
An RSP allows you to invest a fixed amount monthly into a fund of your choice, benefiting from Dollar Cost Averaging. You can set up an RSP via the Online Unit Trust Platform or through your Relationship Manager.
The monthly minimum is S$100 (in fund currency), though some funds may require a higher amount. There is no minimum RSP period.
Speak to our Relationship Managers to identify your risk appetite and investment goals. You can also browse our full range of funds on the Online Unit Trust Platform.
Yes, this is possible if the unit trust is distributed by Standard Chartered. Please contact your Relationship Manager or visit a branch to initiate the transfer (this service is not available on the Online Unit Trust Platform).
A nominal upfront fee of 1.5% applies. Promotional rates may vary. Please refer to the fund's product highlights sheet for full details on charges.
Cross-currency transactions are restricted — you will need a CASA account in the respective fund currency. You may open a Wealth Cash Account (multi-currency: SGD, AUD, NZD, EUR, JPY, USD, HKD, GBP, CHF, CAD, CNH) for this purpose.
Visit our Unit Trust product page for detailed FAQs. For further assistance, call 1800 242-5333 (local) or +65 6242-5333 (overseas).
Your account must be in good standing. Bonus interest is in addition to prevailing interest, and the total interest you can receive is a maximum of 5.85% p.a. Read more
