Important Update: Online 3D-Secure (3DS) Transactions Authentication

To better protect your account from scams, starting 23 November 2025, the way you authenticate your online card transactions at 3D-Secure (3DS) merchants will change.

What is 3DS

3DS is an added layer of security feature powered by Mastercard, Visa, AMEX and UnionPay to protect credit and debit cardholders from unauthorised online card transactions. This service is available at 3DS merchant websites/apps where an additional authentication like SC Mobile Key or SMS One-Time-Password (OTP) is required to authenticate the online card transaction.

How to authenticate your online transactions

  • If you have SC Mobile, you will receive a push notification to complete the authentication on your app. There will not be SMS OTP sent to your bank registered mobile number.

To authenticate:

    1. Tap on the push notification.
    2. Verify and tap Approve to confirm your transaction.
Do ensure you are approving the correct transaction by ensuring the amount and merchant’s name are correct.
    1. Your authentication is completed.

To be able to receive push notifications on your SC Mobile for authentication:

    1. Log in to SC Mobile
    2. Go to Services > Communication Settings > Alerts and Notifications > Turn ON ‘Notification Inbox Alerts’

  • If you do not have SC Mobile, you will need to authenticate your 3DS transactions using OTP sent via SMS to your bank registered mobile number.

We encourage you to set up SC Mobile for quicker and more secure authentication. Do visit Standard Chartered Singapore fraud scam website on tips to safeguard yourself and your devices.
