Apple Pay & Contactless Promotion 2018 Terms and Conditions

Eligibility

  1. The Apple Pay & Contactless Promotion 2018 (“Promotion“) is available from 16 July to 15 October 2018 (both dates inclusive) (“Promotion Period“). The Promotion is open to all eligible principal cardholders of Standard Chartered Credit Cards (“Cards“) issued by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (“Bank”) (collectively, “Eligible Cardholders“). By participating in the Promotion, Eligible Cardholders agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  1. Unless otherwise stated, the Promotion is not valid with other offers, discounts, rebates, vouchers, privileges or promotions. The Promotion is valid in conjunction with the Standard Chartered Caltex 2018 Promotion (the terms and conditions of which can be found here), The Standard Chartered and Grab August to December 2018 Promotion (the terms and conditions of which can be found here) and The Good Life® 2018 Promotion (the individual merchant and general terms and conditions of which can be found here).
  2. Eligible Cardholders whose Cards’ accounts have been suspended, cancelled or terminated for any reason during the Promotion Period and until 30 November 2018 are not eligible for the Promotion.

Participation

  1. To participate in the Promotion, Eligible Cardholders must:
    1. successfully register their Card from 16 July to 15 October 2018 (both dates inclusive) (“Registration Period”) by registering online at sc.com/sg/contactless (“Website”) as described in Clause 6 below (“Online Registration”) (such successfully registered card hereinafter referred to as a “Registered Card”); and
    2. the Registered Card must be eligible for the Promotion (see Clauses 3 above for eligibility requirements).
  1. The Promotion is limited to the first 50,000 registrations received by us via Online Registration during the Registration Period. The Bank will not accept any:
    1. Attempts to register before and/or after the Registration Period;
    2. Registrations after the first 50,000 registrations; and
    3. Registrations that are not in the prescribed format (as set out at Clause 6 below).

    All such registrations will be considered by the Bank to be invalid and/or void, and the Bank’s determination shall be final and conclusive.

  1. For Online Registrations, Eligible Cardholders must register and submit the last 12 digits of their 16-digit Standard Chartered Credit Card number via the Website.
  2. An acknowledgement of successful Online Registration will be reflected on the registration webpage.
  3. Eligible Cardholders may register multiple Cards for the Promotion subject to these terms and conditions.
  4. It is the Eligible Cardholder’s responsibility to ensure that the correct Card number, to which transactions are intended to be charged under the Promotion, is submitted in the Online Registration. If an Eligible Cardholder, having successfully registered a particular Card number by Online Registration, charges an amount to a different Card which has not been registered for the Promotion, such amount will not be considered as a Qualifying Transaction (as defined in Clause 12 below).
  5. The speed and reliability of service of the Eligible Cardholder’s internet connection is dependent solely on his/her respective internet service providers. The Bank is not responsible or liable in any manner whatsoever for any delay or failure in the transmission or receipt of any Online Registration, or any failure to register resulting from the same. Eligible Cardholders shall be solely responsible for all fees and charges imposed by their service providers in the Online Registration.
  6. By registering for the Promotion and participating in the Promotion, the Eligible Cardholder consents to the use of his/her personal data for marketing purposes, including but not limited to the use of his/her telephone number to contact him/her about products and promotions offered by the Bank from time to time via telephone, SMS or multimedia messaging. Such consent will also prevail even if the Eligible Cardholders is registered or subsequently registers his/her contact information with the national Do Not Call Registry.

Promotion Mechanics

  1. Qualifying Transactions” refers to the 2 types of transactions set out in greater detail below:
    1. retail transactions charged to the Registered Card via Apple Pay only (“Qualifying Apple Pay Transactions”); and
    2. retail transactions: (i) charged to the Registered Card via a mobile wallet that is not Apple Pay (namely, Samsung Pay or Google Pay™) or (ii) charged via a contactless mode (namely, Visa payWave or Tap & Go with Mastercard) (“Qualifying Contactless Transactions”) provided that such transaction is not a retail transaction made on the Grab app. For the avoidance of doubt, all transactions made on the Grab app will not be considered as Qualifying Transactions for the Promotion. Qualifying Contactless Transactions through Google Pay comprise Qualifying Contactless Transactions that are made via a Card that was added and verified, creating a Virtual Account Number, in the Google Pay mobile application.
  1. Subject to Clause 15 below, if the Eligible Cardholder has more than one Registered Card, he/she can aggregate the number of Qualifying Transactions across all his/her Registered Cards, to qualify for Cashback (as defined in Clause 14 below) under the Promotion.
  1. For purposes of the Promotion and subject to the cashback cap set out in Clause 15 below, “Cashback” awarded on Qualifying Transactions is as follows:
    1. $5 Cashback for every five (5) Qualifying Apple Pay Transactions; and/or
    2. $5 Cashback for every ten (10) Qualifying Contactless Transactions.
  2. To qualify for Cashback under the Promotion, the Eligible Cardholder must be within the first 25,000 cardholders to make either a minimum of 5 Qualifying Apple Pay Transactions or a minimum of 10 Qualifying Contactless Transactions during the Promotion Period. The maximum cashback each Eligible Cardholder is eligible to receive under the Promotion is capped at $30.
  1. Illustration for Cashback awarded on Qualifying Transactions provided that the he/she is within the first 25,000 Eligible Cardholders with at least 1 Registered Card to make either a minimum of 5 Qualifying Apple Pay Transactions or a minimum of 10 Qualifying Contactless Transactions during the Promotion Period.

  1. Eligible Cardholders who have qualified to receive the Cashback will be notified by SMS no later than 30 November 2018. Cashback awarded under the Cashback Promotion will be credited to the credit card account of the Registered Card by 30 November 2018. If the Eligible Cardholder has more than one Registered Card, the Cashback will be credited to the credit card account of the Registered Card with the highest number of Qualifying Transactions.

General

  1. The following transactions charged to a Registered Card will not be considered as Qualifying Transactions:
    1. Insurance premiums, including premiums for investment-linked policies, charged to the Registered Card;
    2. Bill payments (Examples of bill payment merchants include but are not limited to Telecommunications and utilities providers such as Starhub, Singtel and M1, Singapore Power);
    3. Any payment via AXS network;
    4. Any payment via SAM network;
    5. Payments to government agencies which include but not limited to Land Transport Authority, Housing Development Board, Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore, Public Utilities Board, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority and the Ministry of Manpower;
    6. Income tax payments;
    7. EZ-Link cards transactions;
    8. TransitLink transactions;
    9. Any transactions pertaining to Merchant Category Codes 6211 (Security Brokers/Dealers) and 7995 (Gambling/Lotto)
    10. Balance transfers to the Registered Card, cash advances from the Registered Card, purchases via NETS and ongoing instalment payments;
    11. Any fees and charges (including annual fees, interest charges, cheque processing fees, administrative fees, cash advance fees, finance charges and/or late payment charges and other miscellaneous fees and charges) charged to the Registered Card;
    12. Any amount charged to the Registered Card during the Promotion Period that is subsequently cancelled, voided or reversed; and
    13. Balance owing on the Registered Card account from other months.
  1. The Bank will only consider aggregated charges billed to the Eligible Cardholders credit card account for all Account-Based Ticketing (“ABT”) transactions. In other words, it is the aggregated charges billed to the Eligible Cardholders’ Card account (and not each train and/or bus fare) that will be considered as part of the Qualifying Transaction.   1. The Bank is not responsible for any failure or delay in the transmission of the transactions by any party including but not limited to Mastercard/Visa acquiring merchants, merchant establishments, any telecommunication provider, any internet service provider or website.
  1. Qualifying Transactions charged to supplementary cards of a Card account will be counted towards the Qualifying Transactions for the purposes of the Promotion.
  1. The Bank reserves the right to revise these terms and conditions, modify or withdraw the Promotion at any time without prior notice or reason including terminating, shortening, extending or withdrawing the Promotion and/or substituting the Cashback with any other item (which may or may not be of equivalent or similar value), without prior notice or reason.
  1. The Bank accepts no liability for the goods and services provided by any merchant or service provider. Any dispute about the same must be resolved directly with the merchant or service provider. In case of any disputes, the decision of the Bank and the respective merchants, or service providers shall be final.
  1. The Bank is not an agent of any merchant or service provider or vice versa.
  1. The Cashback is non-transferable, non-assignable and non-exchangeable for cash or credit or otherwise.
  1. The Bank reserves the right to determine at its sole and absolute discretion all matters arising out of or in connection with the Promotion. The Bank’s determination of all matters relating to the Promotion shall be final and binding, and no correspondence will be entertained.
  1. In the event the Bank has determined that an Eligible Cardholder has irregularly or wrongly redeemed the Cashback from the Bank, or where the Bank has knowledge of subsequent events which would mean that the Eligible Cardholder would not have been entitled to redeem the Cashback (including but not limited to where the charges for the Qualifying Transaction were reversed or refunded), the Bank reserves the right to claw back the Cashback or to deduct the value of the Cashback from the Eligible Cardholder’s account(s) with the Bank. For the purposes of clawing back any part or all of the Cashback, each participant authorizes and consents to the Bank debiting the value of any part or all of the Cashback from any of his/her/their credit card accounts.
  1. In the event of any inconsistency between the Promotion Terms and Conditions and any brochures, marketing or promotional materials relating to the Promotion, these Promotion Terms and Conditions shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.
  2. Please read these terms and conditions together with our Customer Terms and Credit Card Terms and any other product terms that may be applicable in conjunction with the Promotion (collectively “Other Terms“). In the event of any inconsistency between these terms and the Other Terms, these terms prevail only to the extent of such inconsistency.
  3. A person who is not a party to these Promotion Terms and Conditions has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap. 53B) to enforce any of the Promotion Terms and Conditions.
  1. The Promotion Terms and Conditions are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Singapore.
