Important notice

PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS STATED IN THIS DOCUMENT. IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND ANY PART OF THIS DOCUMENT, YOU SHOULD SEEK FURTHER CLARIFICATION FROM SCBSL.

1. What is the SCBSL SC Shop and Earn Programme

1.1 The SCBSL SC Shop and Earn Programme (the “Programme”) is offered by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (“the Bank“, “us”, “we”, “our” or “SCBSL”). The Programme allows you to earn cashback on transactions (“Cashback”) you make at online merchants (each a “Selected Merchant”) through our mobile banking app, using your SCBSL issued credit or debit card (“SCBSL Card”). Cashback you earn under the Programme is in addition to your prevailing banking benefits. While the Cashback that you earn on a per transaction basis may be subject to the terms and conditions of the Selected Merchant, there is no cap to the Cashback that you earn across the Programme.

1.2 Your participation in the Programme is governed by our banking agreement, which includes:

    1. These terms and conditions (these “Terms”);
    2. Additional Selected Merchant specific terms and conditions, if any, that apply in respect of transactions you make at Selected Merchants (the “Merchant Terms”).
    3. The Bank’s Customer Terms; and
    4. Any other documents forming part of our banking agreement (including, our product terms such as the Credit Card Terms and Current/Cheque/Savings Account Terms, and our Pricing Guide).

(collectively, the “Agreement”).

1.3 By participating in the Programme and making a purchase from a Selected Merchant through our mobile banking app, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by the terms of this Agreement.

1.4 Any italicised words used in these Terms that are not otherwise defined in these Terms shall have the meanings given to them in the terms set out at Clause 1.2(c) and (d).

1.5 To the extent of any conflict of inconsistency, these Terms and the Merchant Terms shall, collectively, prevail over the terms set out at clause 1.2(c) and (d).

2. Participation in the Programme

2.1 Participation in the Programme can only be done through our mobile banking app.

2.2 The Programme is open to all cardholders of credit and debit cards issued by SCBSL (each a “Card”, collectively “Cards”), whose Card is in good standing (i.e. must not be suspended, cancelled and/or terminated, and must be conducted in a proper and satisfactory manner, as determined by the Bank in its sole and absolute discretion (and the Bank shall not be obliged to disclose the reason for its determination).

3. Earning Cashback

3.1 Under the Programme, you can earn cashback on “Eligible Transactions” that you have charged to your SCBSL Card. An Eligible Transaction is all or part of a transaction that is:

    1. Made at a Selected Merchant and in satisfaction of all Merchant Terms;
    2. Tracked as having been made through a redirection from our mobile banking app (see clause 3.6 below); and
    3. not excluded from earning Cashback pursuant to clause 3.4 below and the relevant Merchant Terms / Promotional Terms.

3.2 If you have made an Eligible Transaction, you will, subject to your satisfactory fulfilment of the other conditions set out in these Terms (such as charging the Eligible Transaction to an SCBSL Card), earn Cashback on the net transaction amount (that is not excluded from earning cashback pursuant to the relevant Merchant Terms), excluding shipping and handling and other similar fees and taxes.

3.3 Cashback rates may differ across:

    1. Our customer segments (for example, different Cashback rates may apply to our Priority Banking or Personal Segment customers) and customer types (for example, different Cashback rates may apply to a customer who is shopping at a Selected Merchant for the first time, versus someone who is an existing customer of a Selected Merchant);
    2. Selected Merchants, including across merchants selling goods/services in the same online marketplace or e-commerce platform and across categories of goods/services sold by a specific Selected Merchant (for example, different Cashback rates may be offered for hotel bookings vs flights);
    3. Cashback mechanics (for example, there may be minimum spend requirements in order to qualify for Cashback, or Cashback earned may be fixed and/or subject to a cap instead); and
    4. Different time periods (for example, during holidays or promotions) .

The Cashback rates, Merchant Terms and any other promotional terms will be available on the Programme page on our mobile banking app.

3.4 Certain transactions (or part of certain transactions) may be excluded from earning Cashback, as determined by our Selected Merchants from time to time. Examples of such exclusions include but are not limited to:

    1. The purchase of promotional items or gift vouchers;
    2. The purchase of items using other discount codes, coupons or promotions;
    3. Refunds, cancellations or no-shows; and
    4. Transactions for which partial or split payments may have been made.

More details about Cashback exclusions can be found in the relevant Merchant Terms available on the Programme page on our mobile banking app.

3.5 As Cashback rates and exclusions vary across Selected Merchants and across different time periods and/or promotions, please review the Merchant Terms and any other promotional terms that we provide you carefully before proceeding with your transaction. The Merchant Terms and promotional terms (where applicable) will be available on our mobile banking app’s Programme page when you click on the link to be redirected to a Selected Merchant’s website or application.  As the Merchant Terms and promotional terms may be revised at short notice, you are responsible for ensuring that you have reviewed the most up-to-date Merchant Terms and promotional terms on our mobile banking app before proceeding with a transaction.

3.6 Transactions made at Selected Merchants will only be eligible for Cashback under the Programme if the transaction can be tracked as having been made through a redirection from our mobile banking app. You can ensure this by:

    1. Accessing the Selected Merchant’s website or application only through the hyperlinks from our mobile banking app and completing your transaction on the Selected Merchant’s website or application to which you have been redirected (for example, if you are redirected to a Selected Merchant’s website, do not complete your transaction on the Selected Merchant’s application instead);
    2. Having cookies enabled on your mobile device / browser throughout when you access our mobile banking app and subsequently the Selected Merchant’s website or application;
    3. Completing your transaction on the Selected Merchant’s website or application before proceeding to any other website or application (for example, once you have entered a Selected Merchant’s website or application through a redirection from our mobile banking app, you should not open a separate tab, browser or application before completing your transaction);
    4. Restarting your journey from our mobile banking app for every new transaction you intend to make, or if your transaction is interrupted for any reason such as application updates, download screens, or payment errors;
    5. Not clicking on any third-party links or extensions or use VPN or adblocking software, examples of which include Facebook ads, Google Ads, other loyalty, or cashback extension links; and
    6. Complying with the terms of this Agreement.

3.7 By clicking a hyperlink on our mobile banking app to be redirected to a Selected Merchant’s website or application, you acknowledge that you are leaving our environment and entering a website operated by other parties. We do not control or endorse such websites and are therefore not responsible for their contents.  You agree that you visit the Selected Merchant’s website at your own risk and will abide by the terms of use, if any, of such website.

4. Cashback Statuses

4.1 If you have made an Eligible Transaction in accordance with these terms, you will be able to track your Cashback status for each individual transaction in your Rewards Hub page on our mobile banking app, specifically under the “Cashback details” section (“Rewards Hub”). For most transactions, tracking information should become available within 72 hours after the Eligible Transaction, although it could take longer in exceptional cases.  If you are unable to view your Cashback status for a transaction you have made in your Rewards Hub, it is likely that the transaction was not an Eligible Transaction.

4.2 When an Eligible Transaction is first tracked in your Rewards Hub, you will see a “pending” status attached to it. This status represents Cashback that has been tracked (i.e. after an Eligible Transaction you have made at a Selected Merchant has been recorded) but pending further validation and order fulfilment of your transaction (for example, order delivery and receipt in the case of retail purchases and/or completion of travel/stays in the case of travel related bookings) in accordance with these Terms, the Merchant Terms and any Promotional Terms.  For the avoidance of doubt, Cashback for an Eligible Transaction that reflects a “pending” status is not yet guaranteed and Cashback amounts are still subject to change.

4.3 Eligible Transactions with a “pending” Cashback status which have been validated and fulfilled by the corresponding Selected Merchant in accordance with these Terms, the relevant Merchant Terms and any applicable Promotional Terms will become “confirmed”. This means that the goods/services purchased under the Eligible Transaction have been fulfilled, that any order cancellation and/or dispute period has expired and that we have confirmed that your Eligible Transaction has been charged to an SCBSL issued Card.  When your Cashback earned in respect of your Eligible Transaction has been confirmed, the Cashback will be automatically credited to you pursuant to clause 5 below, and the “pending” status against your Eligible Transaction in your Rewards Hub will be removed.

4.4 On the other hand, if an Eligible Transaction with a “pending” Cashback status is subsequently rejected for various reasons, including but not limited to (a) non-fulfilment of these Terms, any applicable Promotional Terms and/or the relevant Merchant Terms, (b) order cancellations, returns or (c) where we have identified that payment for the transaction was not made with an Eligible Card, the “pending” status against your Eligible Transaction will be amended to reflect a “rejected” status instead.  We are not obliged to disclose the reason for the rejection to you. 

5. Redeeming Cashback

5.1 Once the Cashback for an Eligible Transaction you have made is “confirmed”, the Cashback will be credited to one of your active (a) SCBSL issued cards, or (b) SGD-denominated savings accounts or current/cheque accounts maintained with SCBSL (each such card or account, a “SCBSL Account”) selected at our sole discretion.

5.2 If you have no active SCBSL Account with us at the time the Cashback for your Eligible Transaction is due to be credited to you, or if all your existing SCBSL Account(s) is/are not in good standing (i.e. your card, savings accounts or current/cheque account is suspended, cancelled and/or terminated, conducted in an improper and/or unsatisfactory manner, as determined by the Bank in its sole and absolute discretion (and the Bank shall not be obliged to disclose the reason for its determination)), your “confirmed” Cashback will be forfeited.

5.3 We will always try to credit your “confirmed” Cashback to you. This means that if the SCBSL Account into which we were originally intending to credit your “confirmed” Cashback is inactive or not in good standing at the time of the planned crediting, but you have other SCBSL Accounts with us that are active and in good standing, we will credit your “confirmed” Cashback into one of your alternative SCBSL Accounts.  The choice of SCBSL Account will be at our sole discretion.  However:

    1. You will not be able to request for “confirmed’ Cashback to be credited into a specific SCBSL Account of your choosing or an account you have with another bank, or that the cashback be transferred to a third party;
    2. We will not be able to credit “confirmed” Cashback, which will always be denominated in Singapore dollars, into a foreign currency SCBSL Account; and
    3. If, for the reasons set out in clause 5.2 above, your “confirmed” Cashback has been forfeited, we will not be able to return you any Cashback that you have forfeited even if the standing of your SCBSL Account(s) has/have been subsequently positively restored.

5.4 You will be able to identify a Cashback transaction that has been credited into your SCBSL Account by the “SCSE” description in the transaction description on your mobile banking app or monthly statement.

5.5 You agree that we may cancel, reverse or debit any Cashback that we may have paid into your SCBSL Account by mistake. We may inform you either before or after such adjustment is made.

6. Merchant Disputes

6.1 Products and/or services that you have purchased from Selected Merchants are governed by and subject to a separate agreement between you and the Selected Merchant. You agree that we are not agents of any Selected Merchants and that every Selected Merchant operates independently and outside our control.

6.2 Accordingly, if any issues arise with a product or service you have purchased, you agree to resolve such issue with the Selected Merchant directly we are not responsible for any goods or services advertised or offered by a Selected Merchant and/or purchased by you through a redirection from our mobile banking app.

6.3 We are also not responsible for any correspondence, offer or promotion, including without limitation, a Selected Merchant’s decision to withdraw from the Programme or withdraw or modify any offer or promotion advertised or communicated to you.

6.4 You agree not to hold us liable for any effect that such Selected Merchant’s decisions may have on the Cashback you may earn under the Programme.

6.5 We may at any time in our absolute discretion, add, remove or modify the Selected Merchants participating in the Programme. 

7. Programme Dependencies and Termination

7.1 You acknowledge that the Programme is operated by us in collaboration with one or more programme partners, and that the Cashback you can earn under this Programme is dependent on information and cooperation received from such programme partners (including, for example, confirmation that an Eligible Transaction has not been cancelled and has been validated and fulfilled in accordance with the Merchant Terms).  Accordingly, where we do not receive such information or cooperation for any reason (including but not limited to the insolvency, cessation of business or non-performance of a Selected Merchant or other programme partner), we shall not be obliged to provide you with Cashback in respect of the affected Eligible Transactions.

7.2 We may suspend or terminate the Programme at any time without prior notice. From the date of suspension or termination, you will no longer be able to make Eligible Transactions or earn Cashback in respect of new transactions made.  You acknowledge that any Cashback in respect of an Eligible Transaction that has not already been confirmed and credited into your SCBSL Account will also be automatically forfeited.
