Temporary Credit Limit Increase Terms and Conditions

  1. A principal cardholder of a credit card issued by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (“the Bank”) may request for a temporary credit limit increase only for overseas travel, wedding banquet, medical/hospitalisation and funeral related expenses (“Purpose”), as determined by the Bank in its sole and absolute discretion. Such temporary credit limit increase shall be referred to as “Service”.
  2. By requesting for a temporary credit limit increase, a principal cardholder of a credit card issued by the Bank (“Cardholder”) is applying for a temporary increase of the credit limit of all his/her principal credit card(s), and his/her credit limit(s) for all his/her other existing non-card credit facilities shall remain unchanged.
  3. A temporary credit limit increase is valid for the period as may be approved by the Bank. The validity period starts from the date when the temporary credit limit is approved (“Effective Date”) till the last day of the validity period that the Cardholder has requested for (“Expiry Date”).
  4. All requests for a temporary credit limit increase are subject to the Bank’s approval.
  5. Should a Cardholder’s temporary credit limit increase request be approved, he/she agrees that:
    5.1 The credit limit to be increased will be the lowest of:

    1. the additional limit requested by him/her;
    2. the maximum credit limit allowable under prevailing regulations; and
    3. such other additional limit as determined by the Bank

    5.2. The temporary revised credit limit which is the summation of the Cardholder’s existing credit limit and the approved additional limit, will be the overall limit that applies to and is shared among all his/her principal credit card(s) with the Bank and all corresponding supplementary credit card(s) authorised by his/her to be issued on his/her account (“Approved Credit Limit”).
    5.3.  As the Cardholder, he/she will be solely liable for the portion of the limit that is increased on a temporary basis. This means if he/she requests for a temporary credit limit increase of SGD500 and the Bank approves his/her request, he/she will be solely liable for this additional SGD500 credit limit utilisation, regardless of whether this additional utilisation is charged by him/her or his/her supplementary cardholder(s) if any. The Cardholder’s supplementary cardholder(s), if any, will not be liable for this additional SGD500 credit limit utilisation.
    5.4. If it is determined that the transaction(s) made by a Cardholder is not for the Purpose stated in the temporary credit limit increase request, the Bank reserves the right to cancel the Service immediately without any prior notice to the Cardholder. The Approved Credit Limit will be reinstated to the Cardholder’s original credit limit.
    5.5.  Upon Expiry Date of the Approved Credit Limit, the Cardholder will need to pay down the utilized additional credit limit to avoid being charged the overlimit fee of S$40 on his/her credit card account.

General

  1. The Bank has the right to reject the request/approve the request for a temporary credit limit increase at its sole and absolute discretion.
  2. The Bank reserves the right to determine at its sole and absolute discretion all matters arising out of or in connection with this Service. The Bank’s determination of all matters relating to the Service shall be final and conclusive and no correspondence will be entertained.
  3. The Bank is not responsible for any failure or delay in the transmission of any transaction by any party, including but not limited to acquiring merchants, merchant establishments, or any telecommunication provider.
  4. The Bank further reserves the right to vary, modify, add, delete or otherwise revise any of these Service Terms and Conditions, including extending, shortening, modifying, terminating, suspending or withdrawing the Service, at any time at the Bank’s sole discretion, with or without prior notice or reason.
  5. A Cardholder who requests for a temporary credit limit increase understands and agrees to be bound by any variation to these terms.
  6. Except for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Bank, to the fullest extent permitted by law, the Bank and members of the Bank’s group shall have no liability in respect of, and will be indemnified from and against, any liability, loss, claim, damage or costs of any kind (including legal costs) to any person or entity, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, whether by reason of the acceptance, possession, use or misuse of the Service.
  7. These Temporary Credit Limit Increase Terms and Conditions are to be read in conjunction with the Bank’s Customer Terms and Credit Card Terms (collectively, “Other Terms”). In the event of any inconsistency between these terms and the Other Terms and, these terms prevail only to the extent of such inconsistency.
  8. In the event of any inconsistency between these Temporary Credit Limit Increase Terms and Conditions and any brochures, marketing or promotional materials relating to the Service, these Temporary Credit Limit Increase Terms and Conditions shall prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.
  9. A person who is not a party to these Temporary Credit Limit Increase Terms and Conditions has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 2001 to enforce any of the Temporary Credit Limit Increase Terms and Conditions.
  10. These Temporary Credit Limit Increase Terms and Conditions are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore and you agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Singapore.
