Credit Cards Sign-Up Promotion (1 February to 30 June 2017) Terms and Conditions

  1. This Credit Cards Sign-Up Promotion (the “Promotion”) is available from 1 February to 30 June 2017 (both dates inclusive) (the "Promotion Period"), unless otherwise extended or otherwise terminated in accordance with these terms and conditions. By participating in this Promotion, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

    Eligibility

  2. To qualify for this Promotion and receive the relevant sign-up gifts / cashback available in Clauses 5 or 6 (as applicable) below:-
    1. you must apply for any one (1) of the following eligible cards (each an “Eligible Card”) issued by Standard Chartered Bank (Singapore) Limited (“Standard Chartered” or the “Bank”) as a principal cardholder (“Cardholder”):
      1. Unlimited Cashback Credit Card;
      2. Platinum Visa/Mastercard® Credit Card;
      3. MANHATTAN World Mastercard® Credit Card;
      4. SingPost Platinum Visa Credit Card;
      5. NUS Alumni Platinum Credit Card;
      6. Prudential Platinum Credit Card; or
      7. PruPrestige Visa Signature Credit Card,
    2. you must be a new Standard Chartered principal cardholder. In other words, you must not have any existing or previously cancelled credit cards in the last 6 months;
    3. Standard Chartered must receive your application for the Eligible Card within the Promotion Period. Notwithstanding the foregoing, Standard Chartered may continue to process any application received by Standard Chartered up to 14 calendar days after the end of the Promotion Period, and Standard Chartered shall retain the sole and absolute discretion to determine the eligibility of these applications and/or allow the said applications for the purposes of this Promotion on a case-to-case basis, subject to these terms and conditions;
    4. your Eligible Card application must be approved by Standard Chartered, where such approval is final and unconditional; and
    5. the Eligible Card account must, within six (6) months of the Eligible Card account opening date, be valid (i.e. the Eligible Card account must not be suspended, cancelled and/or terminated), in good standing, and conducted in a proper and satisfactory manner as determined by Standard Chartered in its sole and absolute discretion.
  3. If you:
    1. have an existing principal credit card with the Bank at the point of your application for the Eligible Card or previously cancelled credit card(s) with the Bank in the last 6 months from the date the Eligible Card is approved; and
    2. satisfy the eligibility criteria set out in all of Clauses 2(a), (c), (d) and (e) above, you will be eligible to receive the cashback available in Clause 6 below (subject to the cap on cashback contained in Clause 9 below).
  4. For the avoidance of doubt, if you have received the Eligible Card in conjunction with your application for a CashOne / Credit Card Instalment Loan or a Mortgage Loan under the Home Suite Bundle, you will not be eligible for the sign-up gift and/or cashback (as applicable) under this Promotion.
  5. Subject to these terms, if you satisfy all the eligibility criteria set out in Clause 2 above, you will be eligible to receive:
If you had submitted your application via online channels through our Bank’s website If you had submitted your application via channels other than online
Choice of one (1) of the following:
a. S$150 in Uber Credits (“Uber Credits”);
b. a S$150 Caltex StarCash Card (“Caltex StarCash Card”); or
c. S$138 cashback
Choice of one (1) of the following:
a. S$150 in Uber Credits (“Uber Credits”);
b. a S$150 Caltex StarCash Card (“Caltex StarCash Card”); or
c. S$100 cashback

If:

  1. the choice of sign-up gift and/or cashback (as applicable) is not indicated at the point of application;
  2. the choice of sign-up gift and/or cashback (as applicable) is not indicated clearly at the point of application; or
  3. more than 1 sign-up and/or cashback is indicated at the point of application,
you will be deemed to have chosen to receive the Uber Credits.

6. to these terms (in particular the cap on cashback contained in Clause 9 below), if you satisfy the eligibility criteria set out in Clause 3 above, you will be eligible to receive S$20 cashback for the Eligible Card approved under the Promotion.

7. If you are eligible for and choose to receive the Uber Credits pursuant to Clause 5 above: the Uber Credits will be issued to you in the form of a promo code which entitles you to 15 complimentary Uber rides worth S$10 each. These Uber Credits must be used for 15 consecutive rides in Singapore. To redeem these Uber Credits, you must perform the following:

  1. install the Uber App on your phone;
  2. set up the Eligible Card as the default card for payment in the Uber App; and
  3. enter the specific promo code which the Bank will provide pursuant in Clause 7(i) below on the “Promotions” tab in the Uber App.
    1. The promo code for the Uber Credits you are entitled to receive under this Promotion will be sent to you via SMS within 60 working days of the date of activation of your Eligible Card on your registered mobile number with the Bank. You are required to enter the promo code in the Uber Mobile App and pay the Uber ride using the Eligible Card to claim the Uber Credits.
    2. The Uber Mobile App can recognise only one promo code at any one time. Any new promo code you enter will override and render any existing code in the Uber Mobile App void.
    3. If the tariff on 1 ride is more than S$10, then your Eligible Card will be charged with the excess amount. If the tariff on 1 ride is less than S$10, then you will forfeit the balance amount on that voucher.
    4. You can use the Uber Credits for any class of vehicle as found in the Uber Mobile App including uberPOOL.
    5. You are eligible for exactly 15 complimentary rides worth S$10 each in Singapore. Any excess usage of the promo code will be charged to the Eligible Card.
    6. The 15 complimentary rides must be utilised within 4 weeks from the date the promo code was issued to you.
    7. If the promo code is utilised by any cardholder of the Bank on the Uber Mobile App in conjunction with a card other than the Eligible Card, the Bank reserves the right to charge the utilised cost of the ride taken via the promo code to that said card.
    8. By participating in this Promotion, you consent to Uber using, storing and transferring your personal data to the Bank for the purposes of this Promotion.
    9. Any dispute relating to or arising from the use of the Uber App and Uber Credits must be resolved directly with the relevant party (and not with the Bank).
8. If you are eligible for and choose to receive the Caltex StarCash Card pursuant to Clause 5 above: a redemption letter will be mailed to you within 60 working days of the date of activation of your Eligible Card for the collection of the Caltex StarCash Card. The use of the Caltex StarCash Card is governed by the Caltex StarCash Terms and Conditions and other terms and conditions stated on the Caltex StarCash Card. For the avoidance of doubt, the Bank is not liable to any person (including, without limitation, any Eligible Cardholder) for any losses, damages, claims, liabilities or expenses incurred or suffered as a result of any Eligible Cardholder utilising the Caltex StarCash Card.

9. If you are eligible for and choose to receive cashback pursuant to Clauses 5 or 6 above: the cashback you are entitled to receive under this Promotion will be credited to your principal Eligible Card account within 30 working days of the date of activation of your Eligible Card, subject to the Eligible Card being valid and in good standing. The cashback awarded under this Promotion must be utilised within six (6) months from the date of activation of your Eligible Card, failing which, any unused portion of the cashback may be forfeited. Transfer of cashback to another credit card account or withdrawal of cashback in the form of Cashier’s Order or any other means shall not be permitted.

For avoidance of doubt, the maximum amount of cashback that you may receive for this Promotion is capped at S$138 (“Cashback Cap”). This Cashback Cap will include any cashback received under any and all other Credit Card Sign-up Promotions with the Bank. You will not be entitled to any further cashback under this Promotion if you have already reached the previous Cashback cap under any earlier Credit Card Sign-up Promotions, as determined by the Bank in its sole discretion, notwithstanding that such earlier Cashback cap may be lesser or greater than S$138.

10. In consideration of you participating in this Promotion and receiving a sign-up gift and/or cashback (as applicable), the Bank reserves the right not to grant any waiver of the first year annual fee for the Eligible Card account, if you fail to charge a minimum of three (3) eligible retail transactions to the Eligible Card account within 60 days from the Eligible Card approval date. For the purposes of this Clause 10, the following transactions are not considered “eligible retail transactions”:

  1. balance transfers to the Eligible Card, cash advances from the Eligible Card, purchases via NETS and ongoing instalment payments;
  2. any fees and charges (including annual fees, interest charges, cheque processing fees, administrative fees, cash advance fees, finance charges and/or late payment charges and other miscellaneous fees and charges) charged to the Eligible Card;
  3. any amount charged to the Eligible Card that is subsequently cancelled, voided or reversed; and
  4. any payment for balance owing on the Eligible Card account from previous and/or other months.

General

11. Unless otherwise stated, this Promotion is not valid with other offers, discounts, rebates, vouchers, privileges or promotions. For the avoidance of doubt, if you participate in this Promotion, you are not eligible for any other promotions (and vice versa) including but not limited to the MANHATTAN Sign-Up Promotion (1 January to 31 March 2017).

12. Standard Chartered reserves the right to do any of the following without prior notice:

  1. terminate, withdraw, shorten or extend this Promotion at the Bank’s sole and absolute discretion, with or without prior notice or reason; and/or
  2. vary, modify, add or delete any of the terms of the Promotion. You agree and consent to be bound by any such variation.
13. These Credit Cards Sign-Up Promotion (1 February to 30 June 2017) Terms and Conditions are to be read in conjunction with our Customer Terms, Credit Card Terms and any other specific Product Terms that may be relevant in connection with this Promotion ("Other Terms"). In the event of any inconsistency between these terms and the Other Terms, these terms prevail only to the extent of such inconsistency.

14. Standard Chartered is not responsible for any failure or delay in the transmission of any transaction by any party, including but not limited to the Uber Mobile App, acquiring merchants, merchant establishments or any telecommunication provider.

15. Standard Chartered makes no warranty or representation as to the quality, merchantability or fitness for purpose of the goods and services bought and accepts no liability for the services provided by any merchant or service provider. Any dispute about the same must be resolved directly with the merchant or service provider.

16. Standard Chartered is not an agent of any merchant, service provider or Uber B.V., or vice versa.

17. Standard Chartered reserves the right to determine at its sole and absolute discretion all matters arising out of or in connection with this Promotion, including your eligibility for this Promotion and/or to receive sign-up gift and/or cashback (as applicable) under this Promotion. Standard Chartered’s determination of all matters relating to this Promotion shall be final and conclusive and no correspondence will be entertained.

18. By applying for an Eligible Card pursuant to this Promotion, you consent to the use of your personal data for marketing purposes, including but not limited to the use of your telephone number to contact you about products and promotions offered by the Bank from time to time via telephone, SMS or multimedia messaging. Such consent will supersede any prior choices made by you. Such consent will also prevail even if you are registered or subsequently register your contact information with the national Do Not Call Registry.

19. A person who is not a party to the Credit Cards Sign-Up Promotion (1 February to 30 June 2017) Terms and Conditions has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap. 53B) to enforce any of the Promotion Terms and Conditions.

20. These Credit Cards Sign-Up Promotion (1 February to 30 June 2017) Terms and Conditions are governed by and shall be construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore and you agree to submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Republic of Singapore.
